Summary
A rewarding opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join a well-established, progressive food manufacturer based in South Wales. The company have a growing product base which is supplied to various retailers.

 

The Role
To manage, maintain & develop staff & machinery in a manner that will ensure the team consistently achieve the targeted levels of performance, in the most cost-effective manner. To provide outstanding leadership, continuously challenging, innovating and improving performance in all production areas. To be responsible for all shifts. To oversee production, maintain highest standards of quality and safety, improve efficiencies facilitate all product launches.
Duties will include:

  • To manage the shift activities to ensure that the production programme is met and the required standards of customer service, product quality and food safety are adhered to.
  • To formulate/develop and utilise appropriate KPI’s as a basis for the development of performance improvement within the factory; cascade KPI’s through teams ensuring that they are translated and used at appropriate levels.
  • Oversee the effective and efficient use of all equipment & machinery, ensuring optimum line performance is achieved. To make sure machinery is well maintained and looked after.
  • To oversee the successful production of all new business. Paying particular attention to staffing, machinery, quality and delivery.
  • To manage labour monitoring and ensuring that the appropriate team structure is in place for each department, resourced by the right number of people, in order to ensure that objectives are achieved with maximum efficiency.
  • To develop and train direct reports, addressing underperformance.
  • To undertake regular briefing of team on shift performance, key issues and forthcoming activities.
  • Ensure all levels of safety and hygiene on site are monitored and maintained to a high standard and all safety related equipment is regularly tested and documented.
  • To drive the delivery of the highest quality food safety standards throughout the factory working in close liaison with the Site Technical manager.
  • To liaise as necessary with suppliers and internal/external customers.
  • Ensure compliance of all Company HR Policies and Procedures and technical Standards.
  • To liaise with Directors and General Manager communicating issues when appropriate.

 

Qualification / Experience Required

  • Proven track record as either Manufacturing Manager, Factory Manager or Operations Manager level within FMCG Manufacturing environment. 5+ years’ experience at least at this level.
  • Must have previous high-risk experience.
  • Track record of successfully delivering cultural change through engagement.
  • Commercial awareness
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Ideally educated to HNC or degree level/NVQ 5
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of managing and leading large teams.
  • BRC experience
  • Good standard of written and oral communication in English.
